Description
Located on The Mall in the former swimming pool building, The Montrose Playhouse is an arts centre and three-screen digital cinema that opened its doors to the public in October 2021. Its first showing was the 25th Bond movie, No Time To Die.
The Montrose Playhouse project was the brainchild of local designer David Paton and is facilitated by local volunteers. Over the last nine years, they have fundraised and worked with the community to transform a disused building into something that will entertain locals and visitors for years to come.
The Playhouse has modern, comfortable and fully accessible cinema screens seating up to 400 people. They offer a range of special, inclusive screenings, including some suitable for people with children under two years old. See the website to find out what’s on and book online, or call the box office.
The venue also has a packed programme of events, workshops, classes and activities aimed at all ages and abilities.
The Reel Bar is a popular choice during the day for meeting up with friends, delicious traybakes, or just a quiet coffee. With a wide selection of quality drinks and cocktails it’s perfect for a pre-film drink!
