Route Description
Starting at Montrose Sports Centre, head north out of the town towards Hillside.
Bear left up the hill past the post office. After 2.5 miles/4km, turn left at the junction. 1.25 miles/2km on, turn left at the T junction. Follow the road for 3.5 miles/6km and head downhill. At the A935, turn right then take an immediate left. After 300m, turn left and follow the signs for Maryton and Montrose.
After 1.5 miles/2.5km, turn left at Maryton by the church and war memorial. Follow the A934 and turn left to join the A92. At the roundabout after 1.5 miles/2.5km, turn left. At the next roundabout, turn right and follow signs to Montrose Sports Centre.
To visit Scurdie Ness lighthouse, at the first roundabout go straight on following signs for Ferryden. To return, retrace the route to the roundabout and turn right.
Points of interest on this route include Montrose Golf Links, views over Glen Esk, House of Dun, Caledonian Railway, Montrose Basin and Scurdie Ness lighthouse.
