With lockdown restrictions slowly easing, and better weather on the way, more people will be out and about enjoying the fantastic open spaces, beaches, hills and parks that Angus has to offer.
And whilst we love to welcome visitors to Angus, we all have a responsibility to keep Angus beautiful and be respectful towards residents, businesses, and visitors.
So here are some simple things you can do to help.
Leave it as you found it
Angus is the perfect place to enjoy a picnic and there are some fantastic walking opportunities here for your four legged friends, but please take your rubbish home with you or dispose of it properly in a public bin, and don’t forget to pick up after your dogs.
Respect the environment
Angus is a haven for wildlife, and many different creatures make their home here. To help make their home a happy one, please don’t break branches off of trees, avoid building fires as these can easily get out of control and damage the landscape, and if you are out walking, please stick to waymarked paths so you don’t stray off and damage the surrounding flora and fauna which is important to the wildlife.
This applies to land as well. We are lucky to have a great deal of farmland in the area, so please respect boundaries and keep dogs on leads around livestock.
Travel responsibly and sustainably
Try to consider the impact of your visit in terms of how you travel and the food you eat. Public transport emits less pollution than if we all travelled around in our own cars or vehicles. Angus has a great public transport network, so consider using this if you can while you are here. We are also famed for our first class local produce, so please help local businesses and shop local wherever possible.
Be prepared
Angus is a rural area with lots of different terrains. Make sure you know where you are going before you set off, and ensure you have everything you might need. If you get somewhere and find it is too busy, consider going elsewhere and returning later to avoid problems with parking and ensure everyone can enjoy our spaces.
If we all make the effort to do these things, we can all protect our countryside, respect the local communities, wildlife and landscapes and still enjoy the beautiful natural resources we are so lucky to have here in Angus, and all across Scotland.
